i think some of y'all really need to learn is that you are only entitled to safety, not to feelings of safety. you need to recognize that your feelings are fallible, shaped by your cultural upbringing and intrinsic biases, and that they are not always reflective of reality.

for example, imagine you’ve been raised in a society that violently stigmatizes drug use, mental illness and homelessness. you’re walking down the street, and you see someone who is disheveled, talking to themselves or yelling, pacing, maybe even smoking or injecting drugs. you feel unsafe, even though this person poses no threat to you. you call the police, even though no harm has been done and a reasonable assessment of the situation can tell you that no harm will be done. the police come and arrest that person, and although your right to safety was never violated, you’ve now put someone else in harm’s way. you’ve traded their right to physical safety for your own perception of safety, and that is morally indefensible. that cannot be explained away by saying that you deserve to be safe in public, because you were never unsafe in the first place.

I think to topple the devine rights of kings billionaires, we need to dispel the myth that they have that money because they are smart and worked hard and make good decisions

I think the zip ties on the submarine and the limited views on the advertising platform might begin to show them for what they are

They are not smarter than you. They are not better than you. And if you suddenly magically got all that money people would stop saying ‘no’ to you too. and that is not a good thing

The the zip ties on the WHAT?

Key equipment was attached to the outside of the submarine with zip ties

Screenshot of a new yorker article reads: grooves that deviated from standard design parameters. The exostructure and electrical pods used different metals, which could result in galvanic corrosion when exposed to seawater. The thruster cables posed "snagging hazards"; the iridium satellite beacon, to transmit the submersible's position after surfacing, was attached with zip ties. The flooring was highly flammable; the interior vinyl wrapping emitted “highly toxic gasses upon ignition."ALT

Ok, let’s start over.

I am a mentally ill bisexual black nonbinary person trying to get off disability for good.

I have a job and should be on the schedule next week full time. I am also attending classes to finally take and pass my stna state board test.

I need help. A lot. I’m trying my best to do everything in my power to be a productive person and be independent.

I gave my rental company the money I raised towards the $183 I owed but they’re saying that if I wait until next week I’ll owe double the original amount so uhh that’s $93 plus another $183. Plus I have only two and a half scrubs to be able to work in. It’s hot and I sweat so if I could rewear them I would but it’s not feasible.

This is all the money I have in my accounts right now

Also I used some of my disability check to pay almost all my phone bill but have this amount left.

I don’t know what to say that hasn’t already been said but again I need serious help.

Made a wishlist with some scrubs I need if anyone is feeling generous

I’m at the point where I don’t even want to deal with my rental company as I could use that money for so many things I need. I’m literally almost out of groceries.

anyway my goal is like $150 to keep me afloat until I hopefully get paid on the 21st

I’m sorry for all this but this should absolutely be the last time I need this kind of support

Btw much as I love to make fun of twitter and reddit’s business decisions, I have 0% trust in tumblr’s management to not go a similar route so this is your gentle reminder that you should regularly go to your blog settings to export your blog. That’s a fancy way of saying you can download a backup of your blog so if everything goes down you’ll still have a backup of your posts & convos.

It’s gonna come as a surprise to most of you, but if you don’t want to do that for whatever reason you’re allowed to not reblog this post. I’m not holding a gun to your head here I’m just trying to spread the word for people who do want a backup of their stuff.

To the confused people in the notes asking how to do it: follow the instructions in the original post. Go in your blog settings (the settings of whatever blog you want to back up.) Scroll down. There is an option labelled export your blog. Click on it. Tumblr will take some time to make a backup of your blog (Can take an entire day if you too have been here for nearly a decade.) You will get an email when it’s done. Click on it again. It will start downloading. It will take multiple hours if your blog is big.

image

It’s right below your blocked blogs. Right above the option to delete your blog.

If you still find yourself confused despite my addendums, I encourage you to directly google up “how to export my tumblr,” which will hopefully explain it better than I can. For future reference, you can use google to look up a great many things if you run into a tumblr post you find unclear.
